Fish Sitting (Day 6)

When I got home from church today, Jess was really excited.  She had successfully changed Pigwidgeon’s water without killing him.  This is quite a feat, be assured, because she has a 90% kill rate when cleaning fish tanks.  I am glad she did it too–he was starting to get a bit smelly and his bowl was starting to fill up with gunk.  I mean it was getting really nasty.  It kind of reminded me of the Fishtank scene from Finding Nemo.

In the afternoon, the kids were really starting to get into having a fish, even it is only for a short while.  Today, Levi asked to have the fish near him when he put together a puzzle.  Not to be outdone, Caedmon wanted to spend some time with the Pigwidgeon and added him to the entourage of her doll collection.  After he suffered enough shame with the dolls, I made sure to put him back on the shelf.

I find it semi-entertaining that the cat keeps watching him, but can’t get to him because his location on the book shelf.

I wonder if he even notices that I moved him around all day.

Pigwidgeon’s Diary:

The female leader of this savage clan threatened me today in a way that shook me to my bony spine.  She held me over the sink, slowly pouring out my water, while the garbage disposal churned loudly.  But I have gained my courage from my time in the cooler, and I stared her down without blinking.  I would have made a jump for it, as my “Nimrod” plan had intended, but I did not account for the spiraling blades below blocking my escape route.  I shall have to stay one step ahead of that human.  She has a dark gift.

The little humans had their fun today as well.  I did not mind the young male because I could see his mind working so brilliantly as he recreated the space station with his rainbow rocks.  If I can figure out a way to turn him, I think he could be a solid asset.  The same cannot be said for the young female, however.  She dressed me up today, as if I was a toy, in a sparkling purple evening gown.  After the swim suit competition, I realized there is no hope for that small one in joining my cause.  Dark, like her mother. *shudder*
