Girl on leash

So, I am not sure when it became acceptable to put children on leashes. This woman is out with a child, but something is amiss, notice how she is holding the leash, do you see it, she is walking this child like one walks a dog. Also notice how close they are standing, why not hold hands?  There us no wonder why children feel abandoned by the adult world, we treat them like animals. We don’t touch them, we ignore them.

Can you imagine if there were leashes during Jesus time?  Jesus would be telling the parents, not the disciples to not hinder the children from coming to him.

This really, really bothers me!

Obviously you do not have children. I thought the same before I had kids. I love my daughter more than anything in the world and LOVE her tremendously. Using this “leash” provides her with the ability to navigate her world in a safe way. There are a billion creeps out there who could easily get to my child in the blink of an eye…even when I’m being a great parent and paying attention…Perhaps you should try speaking to a mother who uses a “leash” before you are so quick to judge. I really think you need to get off your pious high-horse and not judge….Jesus himself did not judge…nor do you have that right!

    Christine,

I actually have two children, both under the age of three, both walk, and both go out with my wife and I wherever we go.

I have talked to parents of children who use leashes, and I completely disagree with them.

Children have navigated “their world” in a safe way within arms reach of attentive parents forever. It seems to me that a leash gives room for parents to be less attentive.

In my view it is treating them like a pet rather than a child.

As for their safety. I took both my children very recently to a foreign country that is quite dangerous known for kidnapping and ransom as well as murder. I did not put a leash on my child, I held them, held their hand, and never, not even for a second, let them out of my sight. Was it inconvenient…VERY! Is it better than a leash…I think so.

I am sorry you think I am on a high-horse, but I’m not.

As for judging, isn’t that what your doing to me? Or am I not able to hold a differing view, with viable observations, because I disagree with you.
