Today World Vision announced that it would allow same-sex married couples to work in their organization. In typical fashion people are throwing the baby out with the bath water and calling for people to withdraw funding from World Vision and giving them the “farewell” to the Christian Faith.
Rachel Held Evans had some interesting interactions on Twitter today: she acted as a prophet in today’s Evangelical Twitter Wilderness.
Here’s part of one her interactions.
Farewell, World Vision. @drmoore http://t.co/x3vdPD5P6o

@DennyBurk @drmoore I’m so sick of this “farewell” crap. You guys would have “farewelled” Jesus.

@rachelheldevans No irony intended. I meant it in all seriousness. It’s impossible to serve Christ while denying his word. -Matthew 7:21-24

@DennyBurk I know you’re not being ironic. You have appointed yourself the boundary-maker, shutting the door of Kingdom in people’s faces.

@rachelheldevans Following Christ is not a choose-your-own-adventure story. Jesus defines the terms of discipleship. -Matthew 16:24

@DennyBurk You “farewell” an organization that provides food, water, & shelter for millions because one of those serving might be gay?
— Rachel Held Evans (@rachelheldevans) March 25, 2014
@rachelheldevans It’s the broad way that has no boundaries and that leads to destruction. Agree? -Matthew 7:13
— Denny Burk (@DennyBurk) March 25, 2014
@DennyBurk I pity you in your small, farewell-bidding world. God is so much bigger and His grace so much wider.
— Rachel Held Evans (@rachelheldevans) March 25, 2014
@DennyBurk You tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders….
— Rachel Held Evans (@rachelheldevans) March 25, 2014
@DennyBurk You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

Remind me never to make her angry. Rachel blogs regularly on her website.
