I wish this book was out when I first became a pastor. The book is divided into two major sections.
1. Forming and deforming church culture: This section is a primer on identifying toxicity in the church and it’s leadership. While it is aimed mainly at pastors it does mention how their can be toxicity within the church through formal and informal leaders.
2. The Circle of Tov: This section is all about creating a culture of goodness in the Church through empathy, grace, making sure people come first, and nurturing truth, justice, and service.
This is a book that I will be putting into practice for my congregation. Excellent read, solid theology.
